Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Iyad bin Ameen Madani welcomed the launching by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Relief and Humanitarian Action Centre in Riyadh as a continuation of the King's humanitarian initiatives towards societies affected disasters or crises. He recalled that the announcement by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud to allocate $1 billion for relief and humanitarian work for the centre, in addition to previous allocations in response to humanitarian and relief needs of the Yemeni people, fall under the scope of his aim to remove the plight of peoples, communities and states facing disasters and crises. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation also praised the humanitarian work embarked upon by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through humanitarian caravans presented to affected peoples and poor countries, which are part of the Kingdom's benevolent initiatives for which it has been on the global humanitarian action map. The OIC is following with deep concern the consequences of the ongoing events in Yemen caused by attacks against the legitimate authority in terms of the collapse of basic services, notably healthcare and the lack of food and drinking water in a chronic humanitarian disaster. In this context the OIC will through its office in Yemen continue to provide the humanitarian capabilities it can by delivering emergency humanitarian aid to affected Yemeni people.
