Riyadh newspaper shed light on the demonstrations in Mahabad, the city having political symbolism for Kurds, noting that it was the capital of the Kurdish state which withstood only for one year, before it was stormed by Iranian Shah forces. Al-Watan newspaper pointed out that Iran's scheme is faltering in the Arab region, and troubles began to spread in Iran, in addition to the expansion of the unrest from Ahwaz resided by Arabs and Mahabad resided by Kurds.
