The mayor of Baltimore Sunday issued a call for peace after demonstrations about last week's death of an African-American man in police custody led to violence and arrests, according to dpa. Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake issued the call after what had begun as a series of peaceful protests erupted into pockets of violence Saturday night and early Sunday morning. Baltimore police on Sunday said a "small contingent" of protestors broke shop windows and vandalized police vehicles. In all, 34 people were arrested and six officers were injured in the skirmishes. People attending a Baltimore Orioles baseball game at Camden Yards were asked to remain in the venue until peace was restored to the area.
