The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said that a magnitude 5.0 earthquake shook central Chile Tuesday, but there were no immediate reports of any damage or injuries. According to USGS, the tremor had a magnitude 5.0, was centered 123 kilometers northwest of the capital Santiago, and had a depth of 85 kilometers. Chile's emergency service Onemi said earlier Tuesday that the medium-intensity tremor had a magnitude of 5.9. The Chilean navy ruled out the possibility of a tsunami along the coast.
