Suspected Ugandan rebels on Wednesday killed at least 16 civilians in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, officials said, according to dpa. Members of the Ugandan group Allied Democratic Forces-National Army for the Liberation of Uganda (ADF-NALU) attacked farmers working on their fields, said Nestor Basiharinya, president of the local farmers' committee. A local journalist who went to the scene in Mayangose, 10 kilometres east of the town of Beni, put the death toll at 22.
