producing Arab countries should continue to play a positive role in the stabilization of the global oil market and promotion of international cooperation in this regard, and they should strive to keep oil as an essential source of energy. We and the entire world realize today that fossil fuels, most notably oil, will continue to play a major role as a source of energy for several decades to come. On the other hand, from an environmental perspective, we should employ advanced technologies to make oil environmentally friendly. We, as Arab countries, should have a strong presence in the international arena, and should continue to coordinate our positions on oil and environment-related issues positively and effectively. Secondly, at the regional level, the Arab countries face similar challenges and issues in oil industry and policy, and in the field of energy in general, which highlights the need for cooperation. We should seek to encourage and facilitate joint ventures and investments by the private sector; enhance cooperation in technical education as well as studies and research in the energy industry; and exchange expertise in this area.
