Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe named Justice Minister Emerson Mnangagwa as deputy on Wednesday, one day after sacking vice president Joice Mujuru and purging the cabinet of her supporters, dpa reported. Zimbabwe's former ambassador to South Africa, Phelekezela Mphoko, was appointed Mnangagwa's co-vice president. Either one of the two can replace Mugabe when he is out of the country. Mugabe also said that Mnangagwa had earlier been the target of an assasination attempt, explaining that unknown assailants had sprinkled cyanide in his office. -- SPA 21:58 LOCAL TIME 18:58 GMT تغريد
