China's former security chief Zhou Yongkang has been arrested and expelled from the Communist Party amid an investigation into corruption, the country's Xinhua news agency reported Friday, dpa reported. Zhou was the head of China's security apparatus before he retired two years ago and is one of several of his associates and relatives to face corruption investigations by Chinese authorities. The move, which was announced in a statement released by the Supreme People's Procuratorate, is part of Chinese President Xi Jinping's effort to weed out corruption among party officials and other government workers. -- SPA 22:50 LOCAL TIME 19:50 GMT تغريد
