The Ukrainian parliament on Thursday re-elected Arseniy Yatsenyuk as the country's prime minister and elected a close ally of President Petro Poroshenko as parliamentary speaker. According to dpa, deputies confirmed Yatsenyuk in a 341-2 vote during the opening session of the Verkhovna Rada after the October 26 elections. Earlier they elected Volodymyr Groysman - a member of the Poroshenko Bloc party - parliamentary speaker with 359 votes. The country's unicameral parliament is firmly dominated by a coalition of five pro-Western parties, who together hold 302 of the 418 parliamentary seats. (The figure was amended from 419 on the parliament's website Thursday). The country's new cabinet is expected to be formed at the next session on Tuesday.
