The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia welcomed the resolution 2170 (2014) participated in its adoption and the resolution 2178 (2014), as they contain steps aiming at defeating the phenomenon of foreign terrorist fighters and resisting the spread of violent extremist ideology. The Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the United Nations, Ambassador Abdullah Al-Mo'allemi said in a speech here yesterday at the United Nations Security Council on the item entitled "Threats to international peace and security: international cooperation to combat terrorism" that the two resolutions are in line with the Kingdom's record full of support for the initiatives aiming to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. He said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has been at the forefront of the countries that initiated taking effective steps to combat the threat of foreign terrorist fighters, noting that the Government of the Kingdom issued on February 3rd of this year regulations on punishing all those who participated or participates in hostilities outside the Kingdom and all those who belong to extremist religious or ideological groups, or groups classified as terrorist organizations internally or regionally or internationally. --More 12:28 LOCAL TIME 09:28 GMT تغريد
