German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier is expected on Tuesday to hold talks in Kiev and Moscow to prevent the crisis in Ukraine from escalating, dpa reported. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov dampened hopes that the visit would bring progress. "Nobody expects a breakthrough, but we appreciate the regular dialogue with Germany and other EU countries," Lavrov said in Minsk according to Russian news agencies. Steinmeier arrived in Kiev for talks with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, before heading for a meeting with Lavrov in the Russian capital.
