Hundreds of Taliban militants Monday attacked outposts of Afghan forces in the west of the country, starting heavy clashes with soldiers and police, officials said. "More than 400 enemy fighters (Taliban) launched attacks on the army and police posts in the early morning in Bala Boluk district," said Abdul Razaq Yaqoobi, police chief for Farah province. He said that security forces were resisting, and the militants were shelling the district headquarters. "So far, one policeman has been martyred and three others wounded," Yaqoobi told dpa, adding that eight militants were reported killed.
