The recovery of the wreckage from the Malaysia Airlines passenger jet downed over eastern Ukraine began Saturday, Dutch authorities announced, according to dpa. The Dutch Safety Board, which is leading the international probe into the crash of flight MH17, said on its website that the operation will take several days to complete "depending on the safety conditions and other factors." Investigators have been hampered in their access to the crash site, which is in an area that has seen fighting between Ukrainian government forces and pro-Russian separatist rebels. Debris from the Boeing 777 that broke up in flight on July 17 will first be collected at a location near the crash site before being taken to the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv and then to the Netherlands. All 298 people on board the flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur were killed. Most of the victims were Dutch.
