Eng. Ali bin Ibrahim Al-Naimi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, confirmed today that his country is among the pioneering producers of petrochemicals in the world and its possesses huge reserves of crude oil and associate and non-associate gas as conservative estimates indicate that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has 300 trillion cu.ft. of conventional gas while it is currently embarked on developing non-conventional gas resources in different sites. In a speech before the 4th Ministerial Gas Forum, organized by the International Energy Forum and Global Gas Union, in Acapulco, Mexico, Al-Naimi thanked the Mexican Energy Minister Pedro Joaquin Coldwell, Mexican government as well as the organizers of the forum for inviting him to talk at this event. In a presentation on the gas industry in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, he said Saudi Arabia is now embarked on developing a number of land and naval key gas resources with the aim of doubling or more than doubling gas production in the coming decade. He said gas reserves are used in promoting the historical transfer process currently underway in the Kingdom as gas helps to meet the increasing demand on energy given the fact that it is the most favorable fuel for power generation, water desalination, stimulation for finding new industries, and provision of more job opportunities in transformable industrial complexes. We also use gas in developing more mineral industries in different parts of the Kingdom, a fuel considered one of the sources of power to our country and augers well in term of future growth, so natural gas is an integral part of development and prosperity in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the long run, he added. --More 22:13 LOCAL TIME 19:13 GMT تغريد
