The European Union has disbursed 260 million euros (333 million dollars) in loans to Ukraine, its executive says, as part of a 1.61-billion-euro aid package previously agreed with the country, dpa reported. "This disbursement payment is a further concrete sign of Europe's solidarity with the Ukrainian people," says EU Economy Commissioner Pierre Moscovici, adding that the money is aimed at helping Ukraine with its "urgent financeing needs" as well as economic reforms. The bloc is also increasing its humanitarian assistance for the country by 7.8 million euros, to a total of 32 million euros, to help "the population affected by the conflict," according to EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini.
