The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) said it has observed convoys of heavy weapons and tanks heading toward the frontline in separatist-controlled eastern Ukraine, dpa reported. OSCE observers on Saturday saw a convoy of more than 40 trucks and tankers without markings or number plates moving westward on a highway east of the city of Donetsk. Nineteen of the lorries were towing artillery howitzers "and contained personnel in dark green uniforms without insignia," the organization said in a statement. The observers also spotted a convoy of nine unmarked tanks driving westward in southern Donetsk. They said that heavy artillery shelling could be heard at the city's northern outskirts. Fighting in Donetsk has been ongoing despite a ceasefire. It is centred on the city's airport, which is being held by Ukrainian troops.
