US Secretary of State John Kerry arrived in Beijing Friday to prepare for the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, dpa reported. World leaders will come together in the Chinese capital on Monday and Tuesday. Established in 1989, APEC promotes trade and economic development among 21 countries and regions bordering the Pacific. Kerry will lead a US delegation in meetings with their counterparts during a two-day ministerial meeting before the first heads of state arrive in Beijing on Sunday. In a speech on Tuesday, Kerry said: "The US-China relationship is the most consequential in the world today, period, and it will do much to determine the shape of the 21st century."
