Libya's internationally recognised parliament on Thursday rejected a supreme court decision to dissolve it, saying the ruling was "illegal." A statement issued by the parliament also confirmed that it is continuing to carry out the duties of the House of Representative and the government "as the two sole legislative and executive bodies in the country," Libya's news site Al-Wasat quoted the statement as saying, dpa reported. "As the city of Tripoli is ruled by armed outlawed militias ... this ruling came under the threat of arms," the statement added. It stressed that the parliament came into being as a result of the people's will and through free polls. Earlier, Libya's constitutional court ordered the country's parliament dissolved, dealing a political blow to the internationally recognized government based in the eastern city of Tobruk. The court, meeting in the capital Tripoli, said that decisions taken by the previous parliament, which led to the country's June elections and the establishment of the Tobruk legislature, were invalid. -- SPA 00:17 LOCAL TIME 21:17 GMT تغريد
