Power returned to parts of the Bangladeshi capital on
Saturday, nearly nine hours after a nationwide outage hit the South
Asian country due to a technical glitch on the transmission line
bringing electricity from India, officials said, according to dpa.
Residents cheered at 10 pm (1600 GMT) when Dhaka's central Maghbazar
area lightened up.
"Power connection to parts of Dhaka city was restored as the
engineers were trying to fix lines in the other areas," said Mir
Mohammad Aslam Uddin, spokesman for state-run Power Grid Company of
Bangladesh.
