AlHijjah 17, 1435, Oct 11, 2014, SPA -- The International Monetary Fund's managing board welcomes the Washington-based crisis lender's support for West African countries battling Ebola outbreaks and urges "continued support." "We are deeply concerned about the human and socioeconomic impact of Ebola," the steering committee of the IMF board says. Unusually, the epidemic is cited in the first paragraph of the committee's statement from the IMF's annual meeting in Washington. "We welcome the fund's scaled-up assistance to Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, affected by Ebola, and call for its continued support," the statement says.
