AlHijjah 13, 1435, Oct 7, 2014, SPA -- Britain should remove the immigration hurdles that he says keep top talent out of its science labs, Nobel prize-winner John O'Keefe said Tuesday, according to dpa. O'Keefe, a dual British-US citizen who shared the prize for physiology or medicine this week, said Britain needed to become a "more welcoming place" by relaxing visa requirements to attract the brightest scientists. The professor at London's University College said he had found immigration rules a "very large obstacle" when trying to recruit 150 neuroscientists for the new Sainsbury Wellcome Centre for research into brain function. "We should be thinking hard about making Britain a more welcoming place," O'Keefe told the BBC.
