AlHijjah 9, 1435, Oct 3, 2014, SPA -- Police arrested six people during a protest in Ferguson, Missouri, that continued into early Friday. The incident comes nearly two months after a policeman in the town shot dead an unarmed black teenager, sparking violence in the St Louis suburb, dpa reported. A freelance journalist was among the people arrested in Ferguson, the Washington Post reported. The others were members of an activist group that has staged regular demonstrations. The ongoing protests related to the shooting death of Michael Brown, 19, on August 9 by a white officer. The death prompted large-scale protests that led to clashes between residents and police. The latest arrests came after an extended period of relative calm. The charges against the six people were not immediately clear, the Post reported. They were arrested after chanting while marching near the police department and after being told to move onto a sidewalk, the newspaper reported. Protesters are demanding the city take legal action against white police officer Darren Wilson, who shot Brown. The chief of police last week apologized to Brown's family, but so far no legal action has been taken against the officer. -- SPA 18:39 LOCAL TIME 15:39 GMT تغريد
