AlHijjah 8, 1435, Oct 2, 2014, SPA -- The U.N. Security Council on Thursday threatened sanctions against those who reject peace in Libya in an effort to support U.N.-brokered talks on ending violence and a political crisis. U.N. special envoy Bernardino Leon held a first round of talks with rival politicians earlier this week that the council described as "an important step" toward a peaceful resolution in Libya.
