AlQa'dah 15, 1435, Sep 10, 2014, SPA -- EU member states on Wednesday failed to reach a decision on the implementation of new sanctions against Russia, with ambassadors due to resume talks the following day, according to sources in Brussels, dpa reported. While the measures were formally approved on Monday, there is now disagreement over their implementation, amid indications that a ceasefire in eastern Ukraine is holding, as well as concerns over Russian retaliation. -- SPA The European Union will continue to assess the situation in Ukraine and hold additional consultations, an EU source said on condition of anonymity. Earlier Wednesday, German Chancellor Angela Merkel had called for the new measures to be applied without delay - adding however that they could be lifted if the 12 points of the ceasefire agreement for eastern Ukraine are fulfilled. -- SPA 21:46 LOCAL TIME 18:46 GMT تغريد
