AlQa'dah 13, 1435, Sep 8, 2014, SPA -- Faisal Trad, Saudi ambassador and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's permanent representative to the United Nations in Geneva, said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was and is still keen on promoting human rights, at all levels, which are guaranteed by the teachings of the Islamic religion. In a speech before the Human Rights Council today, the Saudi ambassador said that the Kingdom sees that calling for globalization of the human rights does not mean imposing principles and values which are incompatible with our Islamic values and religion, stressing the Kingdom's refusal against using this as a way to intervene in the internal affairs of states under the pretext of protecting and respecting human rights. Faisal Trad called to respect the right of states and societies and their direct responsibility in selection of approach, principles and values. "From this podium, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia called upon the international community to be serious in protecting the rights of the Palestinian people where their suffering have lasted for more than sixty years," he said, calling to activate the relevant resolutions of international legitimacy and resolutions of Human Rights Council expressing the aspirations of the Palestinian people in achieving freedom, giving them the right of self-determination and establishing their independent state with Al-Quds as its capital. Trad asked for holding Israel accountable about heinous war crimes committed against the Palestinian people and a massive destruction of infrastructure in Gaza. --More 22:25 LOCAL TIME 19:25 GMT تغريد
