AlQa'dah 12, 1435, September 07, 2014, SPA -- US fighter jets bombarded Islamic State terrorists near the critical Haditha dam in western Iraq on Sunday, US and Iraqi officials said, according to dpa. "We conducted these strikes to prevent terrorists from further threatening the security of the dam, which remains under control of Iraqi security forces, with support from tribes," Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby said in statement. Haditha dam provides water for millions of Iraqis, as well as their crops. It is Iraq's second largest hydroelectric dam. Abdul-Hakim al-Jegheifi, security chief of the town of Haditha, said the bombardment left "dozens" of militants dead and wounded.
