AlQa'dah 1, 1435, Aug 27, 2014, SPA -- More than 1.2 million people have been affected by monsoon floods that ravaged India's north-eastern state of Assam, dpa cited a news report as saying Wednesday. Ten people had died and many thousands were left homeless from the flooding that began mid-August, the IANS news agency reported. Assam's main river, the Brahmaputra, and its tributaries had inundated 2,093 villages in 16 districts. Other Indian states such as Bihar have also been hit by floods in recent days, although the situation has improved with the easing of rains.
