Iraq's Foreign Ministry today praised the contents of the speech the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has recently made addressing the Arab and Islamic nations as well as the world community, underscoring the importance of facing extremism and violence practiced in the name of Islam. In a statement issued in Baghdad, the Ministry said it has received copy of the speech on August 1 in which the King has announced that it is shameful for terrorists to kill the innocents and look proud of that anti-Islamic behavior. The statement quoted the speech as saying that terrorists, thus, defame the profile of our religion in non-Islamic communities and cultures. The Foreign Ministry of Iraq expressed support for the monarch's position, noting that Iraq is nowadays subject to acts of terror and violence led by Daesh movement. The statement criticized the world community which it said is turning a deaf ear to what is going on in Iraq. The statement demanded the world, especially the Arab and Islamic world, to equivocally denounce the terrorist acts against innocent Iraqi people, and requested that they openly mention, Daesh, Al-Qaeda and other unlawful armed groups operating under their umbrella. We have to stand united to dry out the upstream of terrorism, its arming and financing and denounce the countries supporting them, the statement concluded.
