The confirmed death toll rose to 16 as rescuers retrieved six more bodies from a massive mudslide in Nepal, officials said Monday, but several dozen more are feared buried. Rescuers used heavy machinery to dig for victims in the central district of Sindupalchowk where a hill gave way under heavy rain Saturday, burying a village and blocking the flow of the river, dpa reported. Local media said the number of missing was well above 150. The Home Ministry said it needed more time to make an assessment of the casualty tolls. Thousands of villagers were forced to evacuate in Nepal and neighbouring India following warnings of floods downstream.
