Kuwaiti First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah lauded here Monday UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon for his efforts to halt the Israeli onslaught on the Gaza Strip. This statement came during Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled's meeting with the UN Chief, KUNA reported. Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled reiterated Kuwait's support of the Egyptian ceasefire initiative to end the bloodshed in the Gaza Strip. Meanwhile, the two officials touched on the situations in Iraq and Syria. The Kuwaiti Foreign Minister and the UN Chief both affirmed the importance of continuing the efforts to resolve the Syrian crisis, expressing support to the UNSC resolution 2165 concerning the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Syrian people. On Iraq, the two officials expressed worry of the Iraqi security situation, stressing that it was important to ensure the unity of Iraq's soil.
