Peruvian President Ollanta Humala called Monday on China, the United States and Europe to bolster their commitment to responsible investing and climate change mitigation, dpa reported. "The American Andean region is going to get hit first, and we are already suffering from global warming," Humala said in an interview with dpa ahead of officials talks in Berlin. Humala, along with environment ministers and dignitaries, traveled to Berlin for a two-day conference hosted by the German Foreign Ministry as part of the lead-up to a UN climate conference in December in Lima. Hopes are high that a new international climate agreement can be sealed in 2015 to replace the current faltering commitments to reduce carbon emissions and keep global warming below 2 degrees Celsius. Humala said the success of the talks in December in the Peruvian capital will depend on major global emitters displaying leadership in forming an agreement.
