The Regulatory Authority of Electricity and Cogeneration has estimated the government support for the price of fuel used to produce electricity in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the fiscal year 1434/1435 AH (2013 AD) at about SR 150 billion. This came in the Authority's annual report issued recently showing that the average unit costs of energy (kilo watt hourly) paid by the Saudi Electricity Company and other fuel companies amount to 15.2 halalas, based on the reduced price of fuel provided by the state, which is far less than fuel world prices.
