A short but very Brazilian opening ceremony for the football World Cup gets underway under sunny Sao Paulo skies. Directed by Belgian Daphne Cornez, a cast of 660 perform during the 25-minute show which is to highlight Brazil's treasures of nature, people and football with dancers, gymnasts, trampolinists, capoeira, performers and stilt walkers, dpa reported. It culminates in the official World Cup song "We Are One" performed by Jennifer Lopez, rapper Pitbull and singer Claudia Leitte some 80 minutes before hosts Brazil and Croatia kick off the tournament at 2000 GMT. There will be no speeches from Brazilian president Dilma Rousseff or world football supremo Joseph Blatter.
