Afghan presidential candidates should urge their supporters not to commit fraud during the upcoming polls, slated for June 14, the United Nations' special representative in Afghanistan said Thursday, according to dpa. "The candidates should respect the work of the election management bodies ... and avoid jumping to conclusions as it would have a negative impact on the sentiments of Afghans," said Jan Kubis, a special representative of the UN secretary general. "Give the time to the election management bodies to do their work," said Kubis, who is the head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan. He also said there would be no interference in the election process. "The international community is impartial. It is interested in good outcome of the elections," he said. Kubis said the UN supported the people of Afghanistan in deciding who should be the country's leader.
