Ukrainian border guards have surrendered two border crossings posts with Russia, following days of heavy fighting with pro-Russian insurgents, dpa reported. The border crossings in Dolzhanskyi and Chervonopartyzansk (Krasnypartizansk in Russian) are "closed" because all border guard staff were evacuated, the Luhansk Chamber of Commerce said on its website Thursday. The Ukrainian border guard service said in a statement Wednesday that it was relocating some of its staff in the Luhansk region because of the "extreme escalation" in the security situation. It did not say which border posts were affected.
