Seven people died and 16 others are missing after a coal mine accident on Tuesday afternoon in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, local authorities said. The accident happened at about 3:40 p.m. at the Yanshitai Coal Mine in the Wansheng District, according to the city's safety inspection authority, which said it was a "gas incident". A total of 28 miners were working down the shaft at the time of the accident. Five of them managed to escape, Xinhua reported.
