Russia Monday called an emergency meeting of the U.N. Security Council to introduce a resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire in Ukraine. Russia holds the Security Council presidency for June and Russia's U.N. Mission said that the meeting will take place later Monday. The mission said that the resolution will also call for an immediate start of negotiations to end the violence. For weeks, Russian-speaking eastern Ukraine has been the scene of deadly clashes between government troops and pro-Russian insurgents.
