Presidential elections in the West African nation Guinea-Bissau went into a second round Sunday, dpa reported. The top two candidates from last month's voting are vying in the runoff, Jose Mario Vaz and Nuno Gomes Nabiam. Vaz, candidate of former liberation movement African Party for the Independence of Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde (PAIGC), received 40.9 per cent of votes in the first round. Independent candidate Nabiam came in second with 25.1 per cent. Eleven other candidates were in the running. The PAIGC, the country's largest party, won the parliamentary elections with 55 out of 102 seats.
