Nine suspects were killed in a successful raid to rescue a kidnapped man in the eastern Mexican state of Veracruz, dpa cited local authorities as saying on Thursday.
The raid on a gang of kidnappers was launched late Wednesday in the
centre of the town of Banderilla and lasted several hours.
One kidnapped man was rescued, and police seized weapons and two
vehicles that had been reported stolen.
The Federal Police, army and navy were involved in the raid, which
nabbed "a major portion of the criminal gang," the Veracruz state
government said.
