The top two vote getters in the presidential balloting held last month will face off in a second round, due on June 14, AP quoted the head of Afghanistan's election commission as saying. Independent Election Commission Chairman Ahmad Yousuf Nouristan said former Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah, who garnered the most votes in the first round, will take on the runner-up, ex-Finance Minister Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai in the second round. Nouristan made the announcement on Thursday in Kabul.
