Bayern Munich vice president Karl Hopfner is elevated to president of the German football giants in an election held seven weeks after the resignation of Uli Hoeness, dpa reported. An overwhelming majority vote for Hopfner, 61, at the extraordinary general meeting. Of the 1,593 members present at the Audi Dome, five vote against the member of the supervisory board's executive committee. Rudolf Schels and Dieter Maier are named his vice presidents.
