The death toll rose to 21 out of 22 miners trapped in a flooded coal mine on April 7 in Yunnan province, south-west China, state media reported on Sunday, according to dpa. One miner remains missing after 13 days of rescue efforts involving nine rescue teams, 12 water pumps and more than 500 people at the Xiahaizi colliery in Qilin district, the Qujing city information office said via its official microblog. Investigators suspected that managers of the Liming Industrial Company delayed reporting the accident. "The accident took place at around 4 am, but the district government learnt of it at 7:50 am and the city government was informed at 9:10 am," Zhang Lei, deputy head of the rescue headquarters, told the Xinhua news agency.
