Foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council member states held a meeting in Riyadh today, a statement issued by the Secretariat General of the GCC said. During the meeting, which was held on bases of the historic ties binding the GCC member states and their common destiny as well as the group's keenness to further push their common march, a comprehensive review for the procedures in force was conducted as per the foreign and security policies of the GCC member countries, the statement said. It was agreed that the mechanisms which guarantee the adoption of a collective march of the group be observed, so that the policies of any of the GCC member states would not affect the interests, security and stability of other countries comprising the group and without tampering the sovereignty of any of its members. In this regard, the ministers conveyed the endorsement of their countries for the mechanism of implementing Riyadh document which is based on the principles of the GCC Statute, said the Secretariat General. The GCC foreign ministers lauded this historic achievement for their countries which comes as culmination of 33 years of strenuous work to achieve the interests of the peoples of the member countries of the GCC and opens the door wide to move to more secure and stable potentials to enable the GCC countries to face the challenges as one strong and consistent entity. In this context, the ministers praised the role played by the State of Kuwait, led by Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of Kuwait, to reach this desired result. They affirmed that it is also very important to strictly implement what has been reached to preserve the achievements which have already achieved and, God willing, move to a new phase of strong and firm cooperation that guarantee overcoming the obstacles and challenges and meet the hopes and aspirations of the peoples of the member states.
