Senior officials in charge of the contagious diseases at the Ministry of Health have held tele-conferences with experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva and Cairo respectively as part of the ministry's efforts to follow up the developments of coronavirus (MERS), it was reported here today. The participants from the two sides reviewed the corona cases which emerged recently in Jeddah and reassured that the measures taken by the ministry are in conformity with the nature and pattern of the disease. The members of the National Committee for Contagious Diseases, who represent the ministry in the meetings, pointed out that constant and continuous coordination is taking place between the committee and the WHO as the committee always keeps the WHO informed of any development, vowing that the committee is committed to announce any development of interest to the public and the world at large. The meeting, which took place yesterday, also discussed the situation as regards the disease in addition to inviting the WHO experts to a visit to the Kingdom to hold a consultative meeting at the end of this month in Riyadh. The ministry also provided the WHO with the details of the coronavirus cases registered so far.
