A truck overturned early Monday going down a hill in north-east Thailand, killing 12 Thai labourers and injuring 16 others, dpa quoted police as saying. The vehicle was taking sugarcane cutters to their home province of Nakhon Phanom when it overturned at 1:30 am (18:30 GMT Sunday) after careening into a barrier, Police Captain Winai Nakornkwang said. Nine people died at the scene, while three others died in hospital. The downhill curve in Loei province is about 450 kilometres north-east of Bangkok.
