An aid worker in Ecuador was killed in a spear attack allegedly carried out by a clan of the Huaorani indigenous people, the interior minister said Friday, according to dpa. The Huaorani, who live in the Amazon rainforest and survive by hunting, killed one aid worker and injured another after being told that one of their children was dead. The clan had brought the child for medical attention to the state aid organization Ecuador Estrategico in the eastern province of Pastaza, El Telegrafo newspaper said. They became violent when a doctor informed them that the child was dead. Four other aid workers who fled into the forest were still unaccounted for.
