Web retailer Amazon.com expanded its video services Wednesday, launching a new device that hooks up to televisions and allows users to stream content from the company's video library and from services such as Netflix, Hulu and sportscaster ESPN, dpa reported. The Amazon Fire TV went on sale for 99 dollars in a challenge to other streaming devices including Apple TV, Google Chromecast and Roku. These technologies are challenging traditional cable providers, who could see increasing numbers of customers ditch monthly subscriptions in favour of the lower cost set-top boxes. Amazon said its device offered advantages over competitors in the battle for the living room, such as the ability to perform voice searches and a prediction feature that analyses what you are likely to watch and prepares the video before you even hit play. The device offers a variety of games, too. -- SPA 20:33 LOCAL TIME 17:33 GMT تغريد
