North, South Korea exchange fire near maritime border

North and South Korean militaries exchanged fire near
the disputed maritime border off the western coast of the peninsula, dpa quoted
news reports as saying Monday.
Artillery shots fired by the North during a military drill landed on
the southern side of the frontier, according to Seoul's Yonhap News
Agency.
South Korean forces responded with artillery fire, and authorities
evacuated a nearby island, the report said.
