A scholarship student from the University of Taibah has recently achieved, a new medical breakthrough in the treatment of cancerous tumors resistant to chemotherapy. The researcher, Dr. Ibrahim bin Omar Barnawi of the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science at Taibah University succeeded in determining the more resistant cells to chemotherapy. Winning second place in the Seventh Scientific Conference of Saudi students in Britain, which has been recently held in the city of Edinburgh, Dr. Barnawi used in his research two types of human cancer cells from brain cancer and breast cancer in order to compare their susceptibility in a number of different medical chemical treatments. He affirmed that his research's results will open the door to deal with large tumors resistant to cancerous treatments in the near future.
