U.S. President Barack Obama said Monday that Russia is "on the wrong side of history" in Ukraine and its actions violate international law. "My interest is seeing the Ukrainian people to be able to determine their own destiny," Obama told reporters in the White House Oval Office. "What cannot be done is for Russia with impunity to put its soldiers on the ground and violate basic principles that are recognized around the world. And I think the strong condemnation that has proceeded from countries around the world indicates the degree to which Russia is on the wrong side of history," Obama said. The president said that the United States is considering economic and diplomatic options that will isolate Russia. He also called on Congress to work on an aid package to Ukraine and make it the "first order of business."
